Welcome from Our Head of School
The Good Shepherd Preschool is an educational ministry of Highway Assembly of God in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The church’s theme text is found in 2 Corinthians 4:5 “For we preach not ourselves but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.” We take this as our mission — to minister to the Lord, to minister to one another, to equip the saints, and to minister to the world.
We believe God wants to make our church a center of ministry to our community. And it’s in that spirit that we have established The Good Shepherd Preschool. Our purpose is to provide your young children with a quality education, rooted in God’s Word, in a safe and nurturing environment. We will be intentional in providing instruction that will help children to grow academically, to be spiritually prepared for Christian service, and to develop a lifelong Christian worldview. We view our role as not solely preparing your child for kindergarten and beyond; this is an education centered on truth and goodness – designed to last a lifetime.
Supporting Parents in their
God Ordained calling…
Deut. 6:4-9; Eph. 6:14
God has clearly established the parental role as the authority over children, which includes educating and discipling them. Nevertheless, many parents appreciate that this task can be assisted greatly within the structure of a like‐minded community that encourages and builds up both the student and the family. Our goal is to support parents in their God-ordained calling (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Ephesians 6:14), and to prepare children to be secure in their faith and free to love others without fear of losing their own way. The Good Shepherd Preschool will provide an environment in which both students and families thrive.
Should you decide to enroll your preschooler with us, we will consider it a solemn privilege to support you and your child. While our website will help you begin to discover our school, I personally invite you to visit us for a tour as nothing else will represent The Good Shepherd Preschool as clearly as seeing it firsthand.

DO YOU WELCOME PARENT INVOLVEMENT?
Yes! We value the entire preschool family, as is clearly presented in our mission, vision and biblical principles. Special events planned during the school year will be intended for the whole family to take part in.
WHAT DOES THE CURRICULUM CONSIST OF?
The foundation for our preschool instructional activities will be provided through Alpha Omega Publications’ Horizons curriculum. In addition, and most importantly, the Bible will be integrated throughout the curriculum.
WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS OF YOUR DISTANCE LEARNING CENTER/STUDENT DAY CARE PROGRAM?
As area school districts implement distance learning for the current school year, requiring students to do school work from home, some families may be faced with having to find child care while both parents are at work. Our distance learning center day care program is intended to provide families with a safe and supportive option for their students.
Students will be able to access on-site WiFi using their laptops or Chromebooks to their schoolwork. Day care staff will be available to assist students with their assignments and will supervise additional programmed activities for the students during the day.
