What grades are offered?

We offer preschool classes for children ages 3-5.

What are your preschool hours?

We offer both a half-day program, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon., and a full-day program from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

What are your preschool class sizes?

We hold class sizes to a maximum of 10-12 students any given school day.

Do you offer before & after school daycare and holiday care?

Yes, we currently also offer before-school care from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and after-school care from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on a case-by-case basis. 

Is The Good Shepherd Preschool accredited?

We will pursue accreditation through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) following our first full year of operation.

How is your school calendar designed?

Our preschool calendar will follow a traditional 10-month school year. We align our calendar with the calendars of local public school districts.

Are your teachers credentialed?

Yes, we hire qualified teachers that meet our mission and vision, and adhere to our biblical principles.

What is the dress code?

We do not have a school uniform. However, we ask that you dress your child in clothing that is easily washed so that they may enjoy the activities in our classrooms and on the playground. Acceptable foot wear includes socks with sneakers or slip-on shoes; no “flip flops” or “thong sandals.”

Do you offer a hot lunch program?

No. Students who are enrolled in full-day preschool and student day care programs will be required to bring a bag lunch. Snacks will be provided to all students at other times, both in the morning during the classroom schedule, as well as during afternoon school care.

What kind of field trips do the students go on?

We will incorporate a variety of exciting field trips to local attractions throughout the school year. Examples include Belvedere Plantation’s fall harvest festival, the Petite Patriots program at the James Monroe Museum, Braehead Farm and Pots and Palettes.

Do you welcome parent involvement?

Yes! We value the entire preschool family, as is clearly presented in our mission, vision and biblical principles. Special events planned during the school year are intended for the whole family to take part in.

What does the curriculum consist of?

The foundation for our preschool instructional activities will be provided through Alpha Omega Publications’ Horizons curriculum. In addition, and most importantly, the Bible will be integrated throughout the curriculum.
